Dietrich Bonhoeffer

A collection of essays on Dietrich Bonhoeffer from Ephesiology

“Dietrich Bonhoeffer desired to shape and live in a Christian faith community. He was intrigued by the mystery of how God in Jesus becomes present among those who profess their faith together and celebrate their oneness with the Lord through nurturing words of the gospel and their common worship” –Geffrey B. Kelly, “Editor’s Introduction to the Reader’s Edition of Life Together

History might warn us of more political, economic, and societal turmoil. Indeed, we are witnessing such turmoil across the world today. Yet, as Bonhoeffer knew in his day, God invaded human history in Jesus. Jesus showed us the cost of discipleship and it is nothing less than being and acting like him. Not being and acting like we imagine Him to be. Rather, being and acting like He really is: loving, sacrificial, forgiving, righteous, and just. In this collection of essays, Dr. Cooper focuses attention on the German theologian and how his ideas of discipleship vis-a-vis his Christocentric ethic provide a framework for addressing contemporary issues.
